The Adafruit NeoKey 1x4 breakout fits four MX-compatible switches with built-in NeoPixels. Powered by seesaw firmware over I2C, it works with both CircuitPython and Arduino for easy macropad creation.
The Adafruit NeoKey 1x4 breakout is a 3" x 0.8" PCB designed to host four Cherry MX or compatible switches. The Kailh sockets let you plug switches directly without soldering, although a small amount of hot glue or epoxy may help keep them in place. Each switch slot includes a reverse-mount NeoPixel that shines through the LED window of most switches.
A pre-programmed microcontroller running Adafruit’s seesaw firmware handles both key press detection and NeoPixel control over I2C. Multiple boards can be chained together by closing the I2C address jumpers – up to 16 can share the same bus. Adafruit provides Arduino and CircuitPython/Python libraries, making it easy to use this breakout with any microcontroller or computer to quickly build a custom macropad.
The PCB includes dual rows of 6-pin 0.1" breakout pads on both sides, offering flexibility for breadboard or perfboard use. For best stability, solder both sides. Please note: each order includes only the assembled and programmed PCB – switches, keycaps, and a microcontroller are not included.
Note: switches, keycaps, and microcontroller are not included.
